Walk n’ Roll
WHAT IS WALK N' ROLL?
Walk n Roll team is part of the Steindorf Home and School Club (HSC) and consists of students, teachers, and parents who believe in the benefits of active transportation.
Our mission is to make walking and rolling the preferred choice for our school community, reducing traffic congestion and improving the health and wellbeing of our students. We believe that walking or rolling to school can be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
We work with the city of San Jose to conduct fun and educational workshops to educate students about safe transportation. We also advocate with the city and to make our neighboring streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
WHY WALK N' ROLL TO SCHOOL?
Choosing to walk or roll to school instead of going by car is one of the easiest way one can be a change maker. It can also make a significant impact in multiple ways:
- Environmental Impact: By reducing a car trip, you’re reducing your carbon footprint and helping to protect the environment.
- Health Benefits: Walking and cycling are great forms of exercise. They can help improve physical health, reduce stress, and increase alertness and energy levels.
- Community Benefits: Active transportation can help reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality in your local community.
- Economic Benefits: Walking and cycling are cost-effective modes of transportation. They can help save money on fuel, parking, and vehicle maintenance costs.
- Learning Opportunities: It’s a great way to teach children about road safety, navigation, and the importance of physical activity.
By making this choice, you’re not only benefiting yourself but also setting a positive example for others in your community. Be the change you wish to see in the world! Make a positive impact and create a better future for all.
